Announcement

I just wanted to let you all know that I won't be able to post for a few weeks for a couple of reasons.

  1. I don't have internet at my house, so I go to my grandma's house every weekend for at least one night so I can do everything I need to do. This week she has company so I won't be able to come over next weekend
  2. Next Sunday I'll be going on vacation to Disney World! I'll be back Saturday Oct. 3.
  3. The weekend after that, my grandparents are going on vacation, so I won't be able to use the internet that weekend.
Don't worry. Once I come back I'll have many reviews to post. I'll also be posting any chance I get within the next few weeks.
Until then, happy reading!

~Dust of 100 Dogs by A.S. King

Two girls haunted by the past...and destined to relive it

In Legacy of Lies, Megan has to stay with the uptight grandmother she wants nothing to do with. She's determined to get through the visit without any drama, but when she falls into a twisted love triangle with potentially fatal consequences, Megan may be caught up in her family's legacy in more ways than she realizes.

In Don't Tell, Lauren knows that by returning to the town where her mother drowned seven years ago, she'll be reliving one of her most haunting memories. When she arrives, she is propelled into a series of mysterious events that mimic the days leading up to her mother's death. Maybe her mother's drowning wasn't an accident after all...and maybe Lauren is next.

Dust of 100 Dogs- In the late 17th century, famed pirate Emer Morrisey was on the cusp of escaping pirate life with her one true love and unfathomable riches when she was slain and cursed with the dust of 100 dogs, dooming her to one hundred lives as a dog before returning to a human body—with her memories intact. Now she's a contemporary American teenager, and all she needs is a shovel and a ride to Jamaica.

Crazy Beautiful

Crazy Beautiful by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
rating 10/10

In an explosion of his own making, Lucius blew his arms off. Now he has hooks. He chose hooks because they were cheaper. He chose hooks because he wouldn’t outgrow them so quickly. He chose hooks so that everyone would know he was different, so he would scare even himself.

Then he meets Aurora. The hooks don’t scare her. They don’t keep her away. In fact, they don’t make any difference at all to her.
But to Lucius, they mean everything. They remind him of the beast he is inside. Perhaps Aurora is his Beauty, destined to set his soul free from its suffering.
Or maybe she’s just a girl who needs love just like he does.

I loved every minute of Crazy Beautiful. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. I've been wanting to read this book ever since I first learned about it. The characters were great and real. The only problem I had with this book was the ending. I'm not saying it didn't end well, I'm just saying I wish there was more for two reasons. First, because I loved and I wanted more. And second, because I felt like I need more closure. Overall, though, this book was fantastic.

~What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy blundell
~Crazy Beautiful by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
Eternal-At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die. Elevated and adopted by none other than the reigning King of the Mantle of Dracul, Miranda goes from high-school theater wannabe to glamorous royal fiend overnight.

Meanwhile, her reckless and adoring guardian angel, Zachary, demoted to human guise as the princess’s personal assistant, has his work cut out for him trying to save his girl’s soul and plan the Master’s fast-approaching Death Day gala.

Sweethearts-When Jenna Vaughn’s childhood sweetheart unexpectedly comes back into her life during her senior year of high school, she is forced to confront her troubled past. This is a story about the power of memory, the bond of friendship, and the quiet resilience of our childhood hearts.

What I Saw and How I Lied- When Evie's father returned home from World War II, the family fell back into its normal life pretty quickly. But Joe Spooner brought more back with him than just good war stories. When movie-star handsome Peter Coleridge, a young ex-GI who served in Joe's company in postwar Austria, shows up, Evie is suddenly caught in a complicated web of lies that she only slowly recognizes. She finds herself falling for Peter, ignoring the secrets that surround him . . . until a tragedy occurs that shatters her family and breaks her life in two.

As she begins to realize that almost everything she believed to be a truth was really a lie, Evie must get to the heart of the deceptions and choose between her loyalty to her parents and her feelings for the man she loves. Someone will have to be betrayed. The question is . . . who?

Crazy Beautiful- In an explosion of his own making, Lucius blew his arms off.

Catching Fire

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Rating 9/10
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Spoiler!!! (Don't read if you havn't finished Catching Fire)

I still thought this book was amazing, but definatly not as good as the first Hunger Games. It wasn't what I was expecting, and a lot different from the last one. During the hunger games in this book, it just didn't seem real to me. The entire book went over such a long period of time that at times there would be a lot of deetail and other times there wouldn't much at all. It still kept me wanting to read it and was still very surprising. And to top it all off, the ending was such a cliff hanger and I can't wait to read the next book.
